First stop: Boston!

We all walked into our hotel lobby Thursday afternoon, excited but also apprehensive because we were all strangers. Within the first hour, however, the twenty of us had already begun discussing politics, religion, education, and economics. Even our future college plans and families were common topics. The group's energy quickly transitioned from nervous to enthralled; being around like-minded and driven students created a safe space for us all to be ourselves and learn from each other. At the end of the night, the group brainstormed a mission statement that will guide us for the rest of the trip and beyond, which is, "As Global Citizens, we will educate ourselves first, in order to promote understanding and inspire change." We were given the privilege of visiting EF's headquarters and touring Boston before we boarded our flight to Italy. In less than 72 hours, we have found the friends we've always needed.
