Frolicking in Florence

As our last full day as a group comes to a close before we journey to the summit, we wanted to take every opportunity we had to truly immerse ourselves in Italian culture. With that in mind we dove head first into the breath-taking city of Florence.

We began our day with a tour from a very passionate guide that was more than willing to share her "perfect city" with our group. We learned that almost everything comes from the great city of Florence: from gelato, to Pinocchio, to the finder of America himself (Amerigo Vespuci that is). The tour concluded in a well renowned leather shop where we were educated on everything leather and given the opportunity to purchase their handmade products.

Following this the entire group was beyond excited to spend a good amount of time exploring Florence on their own accord. We all met for lunch later in the afternoon. At a local restaurant we enjoyed a buffet style lunch of local cuisine-- and like everything else we've eaten, it was excellent.

The rest of the day was spent at a butcher shop in a quaint medieval village in Tuscany's countryside. Here we were amazed by a panoramic view dotted with vineyards, villas and valleys while enjoying select cuts of meat from the butcher shop. To conclude the evening we transitioned to a restaurant also located in the countryside where we enjoyed a slow-food dinner at a long table on a beautiful patio.

Tired and happy tonight we all realize how grateful we are for growing so close as a group. And although we won't remain a group during the days at the summit, we are all looking forward to what is sure to be an incredible experience-- as well as looking forward to the remaining nights we have to be together.

Ciao!!
